THE COLLECTIVES CLUB

The Collectives, Shagamu-Remo, is a social club comprising young and middle-aged Remo indigenes, in Shagamu-Remo, Ogun State Nigeria, who are upwardly mobile, educated elites prospering in their various fields of endeavor. The primary goal of The Collectives as a social club, is the advancement of Remo Land in all spheres of life and within the scope set down by the club.

OUR MISSION AND VISION

The club is poised to voluntarily do so much GOOD for the people of Shagamu-Remo Land. The GOOD will touch areas of life such as Welfare, Educational grants, Social amenities provision, Health, Endowment Funds, Business start-offs, Scholarships, Sports and Recreation, and Promotion and support of Arts and Culture, working in tandem with Local Governments in Remo Land and with blessings from the Akarigbo of Remo Kingdom.

Our Aims and objectives

To promote, and foster a sustained spirit of friendliness, brotherhood, and mutual understanding among members.
To promote the intellectual, social, and recreational interests of its members and the community in general.
To cooperate in the furtherance of charitable institutions by giving moral and financial assistance to institutions/organizations charged with such responsibilities as the club may deem fit.

WHAT WE DO

Community Engagement

We encourage young and discerning talents in a bid to open their full potential. We actively involve Remo community members through inclusive programs, events, and initiatives that foster collaboration and participation.

Advocacy and Outreach

We come to terms with what is on ground, what the government has provided for the people of Remo Land in a bid to add more value. We advocate for justice, equality, and sustainable development, to drive positive societal change.

Collaborative Initiatives

Delivering GOOD to the people as promised. We empower individuals and organizations by providing resources, training, and support to enhance skills, knowledge, and sustainable development within our community.

WE ARE:

Purposeful: We come with a purpose for the GOOD to touch all Remo sons and daughters.

Aspirational: We aspire to do great things for the GOOD of all Remo sons and daughters. We want to set great standards and examples for the younger generation to catch up on.

Warm and exude empathy: We chose to concern ourselves with the welfare and GOOD life of Remo’s sons and daughters. We will go the extra mile to make life more meaningful for our people.

HISTORY OF THE COLLECTIVES CLUB

The Collective Club started with the excellent initiative of Prince Fasasi Olanrewaju Oyemade who called Mr. Bankole Kalejaiye on three (3) different occasions and explained the need to have a formidable Club in Sagamu. Messrs Bankole Kalejaiye and Prince Lanre Oyemade suggested 10 people each making 20 proposed members.

Prince Lanre Oyemade invited these gentlemen to the maiden meeting of the club at the Molariod Hotel, Sagamu on Sunday 7th November 1999. Nine pioneer members attended this meeting.

They are: 1. Prince Fasasi Olanrewaju Oyemade, 2. Engr. Bankole Kalejaiye, 3. Mr. Babatunde Ajayi, BL, LLM, FCA, FBIR (The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land.), 4. Mr. Ademolu Ogunfowoke, 5. Wale Ayetunmobi Esq., 6. Mr. Sina Ogunjimi, 7. Prince Yomi Ogunsowo, 8. Lanre Solarin, FCA, 9. Festus Segun Oluwaji, FCA

The venue of the meeting later changed to Eskay Hotel before we started the rotational meetings to save associated hotel bills as well as give each member the opportunity to know each other’s immediate family. No. 26 Major Thompson Avenue off G.R.A. Road Sagamu, the residence of Mr. Tunde Ajayi (Akarigbo of Remoland today) was agreed by all members of the club to serve as our temporary Secretariat.

On the 4th of December 2000, pursuant to a motion moved by Mr. Tunde Ajayi and Seconded by Prince Yomi Ogunsowo the constitution of the collectives Club was Unanimously adopted by the members.

The club after extensive deliberations decided to choose the following eminent personalities as Patrons of the club. 1. Otunba Yinka Lawal Solarin, 2. Alhaji Tajudeen Saka, 3. Chief Mrs. B. M. Onafowokan.

The name – “The Collectives”, was suggested by Lanre Solarin, and so is the slogan – “For the Good of All”, while the Anthem and logo were done by HRM. Our logo vividly demonstrates the strength of collectiveness, and it is this strength that we shall continue to leverage.
